Uhh translate.ru doesn't work for me, and I can't read russian.

From what I've understood, this NewView thing is a reverse engineering of the TrackIR driver. I'd like to have more info on that, but I couldn't find any way of contacting the authors (maybe IRC ?)

To install NewView do the following:

1. Unzip the NewView DLL and Config file
Unzip the DLL and Config file to any directory. You can create a new folder or use an existing one. Here we will assume that you use "C:\Program Files\ Ubi Soft\". Note: the CONFIG.EXE file must always be in the same directory as the DLL file.

2. Activate TrackIR support in IL2FB.
To activate TrackIR support, open the conf.ini file in your "Forgotten Battles" folder ("C:\Program Files\ Ubi Soft\IL-2 Sturmovik Forgotten Battles") with the Notepad. Find the line in the [rts] section that says:
trackIRUse=0
and change it to
trackIRUse=1

Note: TrackIR is activated by default in IL2FB, so if you haven't changed this setting you can skip this step.

3. Register the DLL file.
To add the DLL file to your registry, run Config.exe. Click the "Register the DLL" button on the Installation tab.

4. Assign the POV (HAT) and button settings.
Go to the Joystick tab in Config.EXE and assign your input device (Device No.) and hat switch (POV No.). You can tell if you have done this correctly by moving your joystick and hat switch to see if the onscreen display changes. Hat movement is displayed in the POV Check area to the right. Press Apply to save your settings. Close Config.EXE.

Steps 5 and 6 have to be done in the game, so start IL2FB.
5. Disable all hat switch buttons in the IL2FB Control settings.
Open the Controls page in IL2FB. REMOVE all HAT assignments that appear in the Controls. You do this by assigning another command. The easiest way to do this is to press the left mouse button in each one until the key assignment reads LEFT MOUSE only. Continue doing this in each view command in the PAN and SNAP VIEW sections until they are all blank. When you are finished, reassign LEFT MOUSE to your GUNNER FIRE Control.

6. Disable "Num5" as the view centering key in the IL2FB Control settings.
Follow the steps in step 5 to remove this key from the in-game settings. If you don't you will cause conflicts between NewView and IL2FB. Exit the Control settings by clicking Apply.

7. Verify that the DLL is working in the game.
To see whether NewView is working, start a Quick Mission and press the SHIFT key during your flight. The view should pan down to your instrument panel and then return when you release the SHIFT key. If the view doesn't change, repeat steps 1 to 6 again.

8. Check that the hat switch controls work in IL2FB.
Move your hat switch to see if your view pans correctly. If it doesn't, you haven't done step 4 or 5 (or both) correctly. Usually you will have forgotten to remove a hat switch assignment in IL2FB or you didn't select the correct device or POV No. in step 4.

9. Adjust the sensitivity and other parameters if needed.
The first time you use NewView, it creates a configuration file called NPClient.ini. This file contains the control settings. You adjust the control parameters in Config.exe. Note: if you screw up your settings, just delete the NPClient.ini file. NewView will create a new file with the default settings.

Start NewView. Change language on English (click on the British tag). Click on " About NewView ". There you will see authors. Click on "Hruks" or "=FB=Alezz". Write letters to authors.

Hi all,

I have read all this and re-read it and I can't for the life of me make freelook and newview work. I have downloaded nvtomouse and the pointer just does not move. I tried the demo of cam2pan and set the output to Lockon and this makes the crosshair move. I have found Freelook to have a much better lock on my head and would prefer to use it. Am I right in thinking that the latest Freelook and Newview will emulate a TrackIR for games with native TrackIR support?

I would like TrackIR support in Lockon using Freelook. If anyone has suggestions on how to make this happen please provide a link to the site or just type it here if its simple, English please.

Once again I have tried following the above instructions and had no luck. Maybe a config file could be supplied if available.

I also tried to find out, if it's possible to get the TrackIR support of LockOn working with Freelook. But I haven't found anything yet. The biggest problem with using mouselook in LockOn with Freelook is that it moves the over the limit of view angles in LockOn, hence when u turn back to the center in Freelook it turns too far in LockOn.
I know, that's why it triggers the Reset View key when I center in Freelook. But it's still very hard to keep view on target in a fast dogfight.
But there are some settings in the Freelook\profiles\lomac.fl file which are limiting the maximum movement of the mouse cursor, but I haven't understand it yet how to get it working right :(. I made a new post an that. Maybe someone knows.

Hey all, I'm having a bit of trouble. I have FB+AEP+PF .404m, with NewView working perfect. But I installed Freelook, set up everything, and it won't pick up anything. I have a piece of paper stuck on a dark, dark blue baseball cap, and the webcam (a QuickCam Express, incase you need to know) works fine. I'd appreciate any help.

First let me say "Thank you" to you and all of your commrades that help in developing Newview.

I have a question.

In all of the previous versions of Newview up to and including v35, NV accepted the Function keys, F13 - F24 as input by NV as hotkeys.

In the 37 versions, NV refuses to "scan" the keycodes for the F13 - F24.

The reason I ask, is that my Saitek X45 will emulate those keys, even though I do not have those keys on my keyboard. And I have always found it less of a problem to use the extended "F" keys, because it never causes conflicts with the Windows desktop or other applications as does the normal "F" keys occasionally.

Was the functionality of the "F" keys removed from NV, or is it a bug ?

And once again, thank you to both Oleg and his friends for Newview, and a big shout out to Glenn for his work. They have both helped this working man with being able to use head tracking, because I can not afford the Track IR system, and if I became wealthy tommorow, I would still use Newview and Freelook for my flight sims. It would just make it a lot easier to send monies to the 2 of you as a better thank you.

Oleg, concerning my previous post about ver. 37 not detecting the "F" Keys.

I downloaded the ver 37 upgrade, just the Config.exe and the NPClient.dll, and put them in a backup v35 directory. NV 37 DOES detect the "F" keys, but now some of the button settings are without the text. there are only " ? " marks.

I can live with that.

I can't seem to get access to that site. I've signed up a few times but it never works. I have newview v35 but I can't get access to those profiles for freelook and newview. Also I have no Idea what NVtoMouse is supposed to be doing. I found a version on the cam2pan site but I load it and it doesn't seem to do anything and it has no documentation.

Any help would be great.
